This week the students have been learning about food in their lessons. This afternoon for their last lesson we are doing a food tasting lesson. The students are blindfolded an have to try different kinds of British food then try to guess what it is!
Some things were delicious others disgusting but everyone had a fun time!

The Final Week
This week has been very busy! We've been doing all sorts of activities. We tried to have a go at Punting and thankfully only a couple of people fell in the river! It was lovely and sunny so they dried off pretty quickly!
On Tuesday evening some of us went to see a production Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' in the gardens of Girton College. It was a fantastic performance and a lovely activity for a sunny summer's evening.
Wednesday was a night of bowling which everyone seemed to enjoy. Thursday was filled with basketball and tennis, getting us in a sporty mood ready for the Olympic opening ceremony tonight.
It's been a great final week and we are looking forward to the final few days.

Fun, fun and more fun...
Last night there were lots of fun games to play out in the garden to welcome our new students to Sir Laurence! With Albert arriving just before midnight, finally everybody was here!
Whilst new students had a walking tour around Cambridge to get to know their way around, others had lessons as usual. This evening lots of keen boys went off to play basketball, with a gaggle of girls to cheer them on! Those not so keen on bouncing balls had an array of arts and crafts activities to do including t-shirt making, bag making, charcoal drawing and friendship bracelet making!

This week Egor was awarded Student of the Week for all of his great work! On Friday, lots of the boys went off to play basketball in the evening where we discovered Aurimas's extraordinary talent. Those not so keen on shooting hoops played drama games in the garden, producing some hilarious little plays about Cambridge.
Yesterday the excursion to Oxford was a great success, but today we are sadly saying farewell to 8 students who we hope have had a "jolly spiffing" time here at Sir Laurence. But it is time to make new friends with lots more students arriving!

Sir Laurence Olympics
Last night we held a mini Olympics competition down in the park. We had relay races, sprints, backwards sprints, welly throwing, water balloon games and other events. It was great fun even in the rain and we had a really fun evening. The staff even joined in as a British team!
After the events we all headed back to school for the prize ceremony. The Turkish team were the overall winners. At the prize giving, we had the honour of the real Olympic torch being present because Bryn, one of our staff was chosen as a runner. The kids loved having the torch there and all had the pictures taken with it.
A great night of sports!

We have had a very busy time recently here at Sir Laurence!
Students have been kept on their feet with a lot of fun activities ranging from sports, party games, challenges, bowling and of course they had a great time boogying at the disco!
The rain has been pouring down but at last the sun is shining in time for our version of the Olympic Games this evening.
This week students have been learning about the media and press, and so we have been discussing big events covered in the papers.
Last week the Student of the Week was awarded to Jaume, the question is who will win this week...

Traditional English Tea
This afternoon some of us went to 'Aunties Tea Shop' in Cambridge for a traditional 'Cream Tea'. Everyone loved the tea, sandwiches and scones with jam and cream.
Jaume tried a cup of tea for the first time!
We were all quite full at the end but it was a great experience!

Punting
Yesterday evening we had a great time on the river Cam being punted along and learning about Cambridge. Punting is a famous Cambridge activity and the students really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful sunny evening and it was great fun to be outside and on the water.

Happy Birthday Tim!
Yesterday was a very busy day! The students had lessons in the morning, and went for a walking tour around Cambridge in the afternoon.
Sadly it was raining in the evening so we could not play Rounders, but instead we had a big quiz which was great fun. The team called 'The Magnificent Team' won!
We then celebrated Tim's 15th Birthday with two big cakes and sang Happy Birthday before designing our own T-shirts.
Everybody is looking forward to the big disco this evening!

Arrivals and Football
Yesterday was a busy day with all of our students arriving throughout the day. Everyone has settled in well and last night we all gathered to watch the UEFA Euro Final together.
The Spanish students seemed to be quite excited about it. Not sure why!?
Lessons have begun this morning and we are looking forward to the rest of the week.
